01Who we are
ZonePin Technologies Private Limited (“ZonePin”, “we”, “us”) provides ZonePin Fleets and ZonePin GPS. This policy explains what information we handle when you use our website, apps, devices and services, and the choices you have.
02Information we collect
- Account details such as your name, phone number, email address, postal address and organisation. ZonePin GPS asks for your name and postal address before you add a vehicle, for the KYC of the tracker’s SIM card (see SIM verification (KYC) in ZonePin GPS).
- Vehicle details you enter, such as the vehicle’s name and number plate and its tracker’s IMEI.
- Vehicle and device data from ZonePin trackers, such as location, speed, ignition state and timestamps.
- Information you give us, for example through the contact form, support tickets or the in-app assistant.
- Technical and usage data, such as device type, app version and interaction logs.
- In the ZonePin GPS app, your phone’s location, only while the app is open and only when you use it: on Find my vehicle, to show how far away your vehicle is and in which direction, and when you tap My location in the zone editor, to centre the map on where you are. Your vehicle’s location comes from its tracker, not from your phone, and the app never tracks your phone in the background.
- In the ZonePin Fleets mobile app, your phone’s location only when a driver sends an emergency SOS — never in the background.
- In the ZonePin Fleets mobile app, crash reports — what went wrong, the phone model, operating system and app version — only if you turn on “Send crash reports” in the app’s settings. It is off unless you turn it on, and personal details are removed before a report is sent. The ZonePin GPS app does not send crash reports.
03How we use information
- To provide tracking, alerts, trip history, reports and the other features you use.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To keep our services secure, reliable and working as intended.
- In the ZonePin Fleets mobile app, to find and fix crashes, using the crash reports you choose to send. You can turn this off at any time.
- To meet our legal obligations.
05SIM verification (KYC) in ZonePin GPS
Every ZonePin GPS tracker has its own SIM card, and Indian telecom rules require KYC for every SIM. As the vehicle’s owner, you are the custodian of your tracker’s SIM.
To activate your tracker’s SIM, we share your name, postal address, vehicle registration number, the tracker’s IMEI and model and the SIM’s mobile number with the mobile operator (Airtel) for SIM KYC, as Indian telecom rules require. We file it for you once the SIM is activated, again when you change your name, your address or the vehicle’s number plate, and when a different person adds the tracker to their account. Family members you invite are never part of it.
The operator keeps this KYC record as the law requires. Deleting your ZonePin account removes your data from ZonePin, but not the KYC record held by the operator.
06Follow on Lock Screen
If you turn on Follow on Lock Screen for a vehicle in the ZonePin GPS app, your phone shows a card with the vehicle’s status, its speed, the address of where it is, and the current trip’s time, distance and top speed. To keep the card up to date, this content travels through Google’s and Apple’s push services to your own phone. No coordinates are sent. The card ends when you stop following, and at once if you lose access to the vehicle.
07The in-app assistant
If you use the assistant in the ZonePin GPS app (Settings → Help & contact → Ask the assistant), what you type and the account details it needs to answer — your vehicles’ names and number plates, tracker and SIM status, subscription status, recent alerts and engine commands, and your tickets — are sent to our AI service provider to write the reply. The assistant is never given your phone number, your vehicles’ positions or addresses, your tracker’s IMEI or your SIM number.
Before anything is sent, we remove phone numbers, IMEI and SIM numbers, email addresses, one-time codes, PIN codes, map links and coordinates from what you type. Street names and house numbers are not removed, so don’t type your address.
Our AI service provider processes this data for us, keeps it only as long as its terms allow and does not use it to train its models. We keep your assistant chats for 90 days. The assistant only reads your account; it cannot change anything. It asks for your consent before your first conversation, and you can always use Contact support instead. If you send a ticket from a conversation, the conversation is attached to the ticket for our support staff.
08Support tickets
Support tickets you send from the ZonePin GPS app are handled in our support desk provider’s service. Our support staff see your ticket, your ZonePin user id and the details of the vehicle you chose (its name, number plate and tracker model, the last 4 digits of the tracker’s IMEI, its connection, SIM and subscription status, and your app version), not your phone number. Tickets are kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes your ticket messages from the app; the copy in our support desk is kept as our record of the support given.
09Where ZonePin GPS data is kept
ZonePin GPS data is stored in India, on servers ZonePin controls. Addresses and place searches are handled by our own service, not by an outside map company. The exceptions are the ones this policy describes: the KYC record held by the mobile operator, support tickets in our support desk provider’s service, what the assistant sends to our AI service provider, and the notifications and Lock Screen updates that reach your phone through Google’s and Apple’s push services. Some of these providers may process what they receive outside India, under agreements that protect it.
10Retention
We keep information for as long as it is needed to provide the services and to meet legal obligations. In ZonePin GPS, history is kept for these periods and then erased automatically:
- positions (the detailed points behind the live map and route replay): 30 days;
- trips: 90 days;
- alerts: 90 days;
- notifications in the app: 90 days;
- assistant chats: 90 days.
These are the current periods. If we change them, we will update this policy.
Kept for as long as the vehicle is in ZonePin GPS:
- the daily summaries behind Reports — kilometres, engine-on, driving and idle time, trips, top speed and, for OBD trackers, fuel and refuels — and the weekly and monthly totals made from them;
- the vehicle’s details, zones, family members and odometer readings.
Support tickets are kept for as long as your account exists. What happens to your information when you delete your account is described in Deleting your ZonePin GPS account.
11Deleting your ZonePin GPS account
You can delete your account in the ZonePin GPS app from Settings → Delete account, and confirm it with a one-time code. When you do:
- Your name, phone number, postal address and email address are removed from the account. Every phone is signed out and your consents are marked as withdrawn.
- Every vehicle you own, including suspended ones, is deleted and cannot be restored. Its family members lose access, its share links stop working, queued engine commands are cancelled and its tracker is freed. A prepaid subscription stays with the tracker.
- You leave the vehicles other people shared with you. Those vehicles and their other members are not affected.
- Invites you sent or received are cancelled.
- Your support ticket messages and summaries in the app are replaced with “[deleted]”.
- The history of your deleted vehicles — positions, trips, alerts, notifications and daily summaries — is no longer shown to anyone. Positions, trips, alerts and notifications are erased when their retention period ends, and everything is erased when the vehicle is purged 30 days after the deletion.
- Your assistant chats are not erased at once: they are erased within 90 days, when their retention period ends.
After that, we keep:
- the record of the consents you gave and withdrew;
- records of engine commands sent to your vehicles;
- our administrative audit log;
- subscription events for the trackers;
- records of tracker orders and payments, including invoices, that we must keep by law;
- our support desk’s copy of your tickets, as our record of the support given. It names you by your ZonePin user id, not your phone number.
KYC already filed with the mobile operator for a tracker's SIM card stays with the operator. If you sign up again with the same phone number, you get a new, empty account.
